Sino-India cooperation: opportunity overwhelms competition

Mr. Du Yuzhou, President of China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC), invited Mr. Nalin Surie, Ambassador of India, to have a discussion on the future cooperation of textile industries in both countries yesterday.
An agreement had been reached between Mr. Du and Mr. Nalin Surie that there is a wide area for China and India, the two largest textile countries in the world, to cooperate. Competition exists, but if the two countries stand side by side, the win-win opportunity is to overwhelms competition.
As the president of CNTAC, Mr. Du pointed out that the potential areas to cooperation could include technology, brands, marketing, and silk sector, while the Ambassador thought the silk sector might be sensitive in India and it was totally different from the Chinese one. However, the two gentlemen believed to promote the Asian culture is one of our two countries’ missions.
Guests to the meeting also included Mr. Vinay Mohan Kwatra, Minister Counsellor, Ms. Namgya C. Khampa, Second Secretary of Embassy of India, Mr. Amit Narang, Second Secretary of Embassy of India, Ms. He Fengxian, President and CEO of China Texmatech Co., Ltd., Mr. Wu Xiuhua, Vice President of China Texmatech Co., Ltd. and other top managers of the largest enterprise in China specialized in the import and export of textile machinery and technology.
In recent years, India has become one of the top export markets for the textile machinery made in China, and the growth is still continuing in a high speed. But a coin has two sides. With the market growing in India, China’s textile machinery industry is confronted with fierce competitions from Switzerland, Germany, Japan, South Korea and other leading textile machinery manufacturers.
To be competitive in the Indian market, Chinese textile machinery manufacturers have to stabilize the product quality and to improve the after-sales services, according to Mr. Surie.
