CNTAC delegation returned from the United States

On August 26, 2006, CNTAC delegation landed on the United States, which is the third destination of its trip visit of “Modern Silk Road”. On the morning of August 28, the Sino-US Seminar of Textile and Apparel Industry held at the seminar room of the ASAP trade show in the Venetian Hotel of Las Vegas. With tailor-made name “CHINA, CHINA, CHINA”, the seminar was a great opportunity for both side to have a discussion on new thinking and new cooperation way as well as to show the US counterparts a new Chinese textile world.
Mr. Yang Jichao, General Secretary of CNTAC, introduced the status of China’s textile industry, and elaborated the development outlines of China’s 11the Five-Year Plan for textile sector.
Mr. Xia Lingmin, Vice Director of the Information Department of CNTAC, was the next to deliver speech. He illustrated China’s textile and apparel markets and the distribution channels. He also introduced the status and roles of China’s textile-and-apparel-specific markets.
Bringing the model buildings to the scene, Mr. Hunag Wei, President of Shenzhen New World Group, went straight to the point: the purpose that this time we came to the United States was to introduce you the China’s market and to invite you bring your products and brands to China, rather than asking for orders.
Mr. John Schmonsees, Director of International Apparel Team of U.S. Department of Commerce, was one of the speakers, too. All the Chinese audiences were impressed with his knowledge about China’s textile production clusters. Besides, he listed some problems when American companies cooperated with Chinese firms and provided his solutions.
Another speaker was Mr. Bobby Hines, International Trade Specialist of US Department of Commerce. He said they had carried out some researches in order to provide guidance to American companies who wanted to enter Chinese market. But due to the cultural differences and shortage of information, they were confronted to some obstacles. The seminar was educative.
The last to speak was Mr. Frank Yuan, President of ASAP Group. He concluded that in the huge Chinese market, only the one that knew it could grasp the great business opportunity.
The seminar was significant not only to the Modern Silk Road trip of CNTAC, but also to the textile trade partnership between China and the US after the unquiet year of 2005.
It is planed that CNTAC delegation would arrive in Europe this November.
